Born Moscow in 1952, Youri graduated from the Surikov Academy of
Art with a classical art education in Russian realism, embracing
the study of painting techniques and drawings by old European masters.
Youri's plein air painting, observing landscape and nature, light
and atmosphere, is characteristic of many other schools of painting
such as the 19th century French Barbizon school, the English Newlyn
school and the Russian Peredvijnik school.
Since 1984, he has participated in all the major art exhibitions
in Russia and has had solo shows in Moscow, London and Cornwall,
Spain, Tokyo, India, Cyprus. His landscapes, still lifes and portraits
are in private collections all over the world and many of his historical
paintings are seen in Russian museums.
Youri visits the UK and Europe frequently on private commissions
and for exhibitions. He's currently working on portraits and the
English countryside.
A solo exhibition is planned for 2001 featuring his portraits and
other commissions.
